Rancho Cucamonga is a wonderful place to live, raise a family, and build a business. I am running for Mayor because I believe we can preserve the quality of life that makes our community so special while planning responsibly for the future.
I am NOT a career politician. I am a Rancho Cucamonga resident, attorney, small-business owner, and community advocate who has spent more than twenty years helping families solve difficult problems, protecting individual rights, and standing up for those who need a strong advocate.
As YOUR Mayor, my three-point plan is simple: 1. Together with the residents, say NO to uncontrolled development. 2. Create a Resident's Advisory Council to listen to the residents from every district bi-weekly or monthly. Listen to the residents to determine if they approve or oppose significant projects. It is obvious that so far, residents attending monthly City Hall meetings has not yielded results. And, 3. Improve our current infrastructure. Increase law enforcement personnel to keep up with the new residents moving in. We need more schools and more parks. Start building those before approving more housing developments.
I am NOT running to serve special interests. I am running to serve YOU. My promise to Rancho's residents is this: I will say NO to unchecked development. And, YES to Residents Having a Voice at City Hall.

A Little About Marjorie
People often ask me why I'm running for Mayor of Rancho Cucamonga. The answer is simple: because this city is home.
I've spent most of my life in the Inland Empire. The only time I left was to attend law school in Arizona. Three days after graduating from law school, I was back in the Inland Empire because this area is where I wanted to build my career and my life.
I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Cal Poly Pomona before attending law school in Arizona. For more than 20 years, I have practiced law in San Bernardino County, helping individuals, families, and businesses solve complex legal problems. My career has taught me the importance of listening, analyzing difficult issues, finding practical solutions, and standing up for people when they need an advocate.
My husband, Steve, and I chose Rancho Cucamonga as our forever home because we fell in love with everything this community has to offer. We enjoy hiking, spending time outdoors, and taking advantage of the beautiful natural spaces that make Rancho such a special place to live. We especially love the Etiwanda Preserve.
Today, our lives are firmly rooted here. We are active members of One & All Church. My law practice is here in Rancho Cucamonga. Our Live Scan business is here. And we proudly support local businesses throughout our community. We live here, work here, worship here, exercise here and invest in Rancho Cucamonga because we believe in this city and its future.
Like many of you, I've experienced the challenges that come with rapid growth. I've sat in traffic on Haven Avenue. I've watched our infrastructure struggle to keep pace with development (e.g., the reduction of lanes on Haven Ave.) I've seen promised community improvements such as Central Park, unfulfilled. These aren't abstract policy discussions to me—they affect my family just as they affect yours. Those experiences are what inspired me to run for Mayor.
I believe residents deserve a stronger voice in the decisions that shape our community. Before I vote on any significant City project, I will ask two simple questions:

What do the residents of Rancho Cucamonga want?

Do they support this project?
Those questions will always be among the first and most important considerations before I cast my vote.
My Political Affiliation
One of the questions I am most frequently asked is about my political affiliation. So I want to answer that question directly. I am a registered Independent. I consider myself a conservative, and I vote for candidates based on their positions on issues that are important to me and consistent with my Christian faith. As a result, I have voted for Republican candidates in recent elections.
My Priorities as Mayor
If elected Mayor, first and foremost, I will ask God for wisdom to lead this city. Then, I will prioritize three things:
1. Protecting Our Quality of Life
Together with the residents, we need to say NO to excessive development. Together we need to put an end to high density housing projects in our city. Growth should never outpace infrastructure. Future development must be thoughtfully planned, legally compliant, and balanced with the needs of the people who already call Rancho Cucamonga home.
2. Giving Residents a Voice
I will establish a Resident Advisory Council with representatives from every district who will meet regularly with my office to communicate neighborhood concerns, identify needed improvements, and ensure residents have meaningful input before major City decisions are made. I will give the residents a "seat at the table" as they say. My interactions with the residents will not stop the day I'm elected and they will not be limited to 3 minutes during a City Hall meeting. I will continue to seek input from residents during my entire tenure. I will govern the city with the advice and counsel of the residents, not behind closed doors.
3. Investing in Our Community
As Rancho Cucamonga continues to grow, we must invest in the infrastructure that keeps our city safe and vibrant, including roads, parks, public safety, and emergency services. Our schools, neighborhoods, and first responders should never be left trying to catch up after growth has already occurred. Therefore, with the advice and help of the Residents' Advisory Council we will develop a plan to improve our infrastructure.
I am not running because I have all the answers. I am running because I believe good leadership begins with listening. A true leader must be a servant first. My commitment to YOU is this: to serve with integrity and to put the residents of Rancho FIRST.

My Husband Steve Hamada & Our Son Nicholas
My husband Steve has been an insurance adjuster for almost 31 years and has been working for the same company for 29 years. He loves God above all and is a wonderful and supportive husband. He enjoys playing golf, watching golf and he occasionally dreams about golf :)
Our son Nicholas is currently a junior at UCI majoring in mechanical engineering. We are so blessed with this incredible son, he's kind, compassionate and loves to learn.
Then there's our 10 year-old Beagle, Lucy Hamada. She loves to eat, eat and eat some more. That's all she thinks about day and night-eating.
My nephew Abel is an amazing 12 year-old. He loves watching Ninja kids and swimming. We are amazed at all his talents.
My nieces Esmeralda Grace (9 years old) & Zoe (almost 2 y.o.) playing at the water fountain in Victoria Gardens this past July, 2026. They are two of the many kids in my life that bring me immense joy.

My nephews Edward & Ricky, Jr.
I am currently raising my 15 year-old nephew, Edward. My brother passed away in 2016 and I am Edward's legal guardian. He is a sophomore in high school and plays the flute in marching band. He loves music and I'm immensely proud of him.
My 16 year-old nephew Ricky, Jr. is an amazing teenager as well. He's a true movie buff. Ask him about any scary movie and he's watched it and can tell you the plot from start to finish. I adore him and am a very proud Auntie.

A Residents FIRST Approach
I will bring a Residents First approach to governing. Before voting on any significant City project, I will ask two fundamental questions: What do the residents of Rancho Cucamonga want? and Do they support this project? The answers to those questions will guide my decision-making and will always be among the most important factors I consider before casting my vote.
For too long, many residents have felt that their voices have not been adequately heard. It's time for Rancho Cucamonga to have a Mayor who listens, values community input, and faithfully represents the concerns and priorities of the people at City Hall.
